When the idea of doing a New Model Army concert with a full orchestra at Berlin’s Tempodrom venue was first floated, we had a thought: that if we were going to do something so extravagant, we should also do the exact opposite on the same weekend.
So, we booked the following two evenings at Berlin’s legendary Punk Rock sweatbox, the SO36 in Kreuzberg, and returned to being the simplest, stripped-down version of New Model Army we could be - without orchestra, keyboards or extra drums. With the Sinfonia project, in all its glory, released last year - now, at last, comes the sweaty, full-on rock and roll.
As this was part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, the 37 song setlist(s) provided a random retrospective collection, taking in all eras of the band’s history. While both nights were recorded, only the first night was filmed. So, we are releasing packages of double-vinyl, and a double-CD with DVD of this first night - with the first deluxe limited editions coming with a free download code for the complete audio recording of the second night.
A first track “Never Arriving (Live at SO36)” is available now - the YouTube video and streaming links are here: HERE
The release date is March 28th, but you can pre-order now:
