NMA Documentary In Production

The New Model Army documentary is now in full production and over the next few months we will be interviewing a whole range of people with a story to tell about the band. As important as anyone are the fans themselves. We need to talk to as many of you as possible about what NMA means to you. Some questions to think about...

• where were you when you first heard the band? what was it about them that struck you?
• choose 3 songs, what do they mean to you? have they affected your life? what memories to they trigger when you hear them? how do you interpret the lyrics of these songs? or maybe the lyrics are irrelevant to you, it's just about the music?
• in your mind what makes NMA different from all the other bands?

You could have been following NMA for 30 years or just discovered them. You could be young or old, and it certainly doesn't matter where you are from or what langauge you speak (Charlotte speaks Polish and French). It would be helpful if you are on Skype but not essential, email is fine for starters. You just need to have something to say about New Model Army and don't mind being filmed. Also, if you know a great fan who may not have seen this post - please tell us about them!

Rather than posting replies on the forum it would be best if you could email us on:

Registrations For The Forum (16/11/10)

Of late we have been experiencing a large volume of spam on the Forum noticeboards. We have attempted various solutions with various degrees of success but have been unable to eradicate the spam, and indeed in the background we have been fighting the registration of a hundred new "applicants" a day; 99% of which is of course more spam. The worry has been that in deleting these "applicants" we are missing real registrations from people wanting to join the noticeboards. Consequently, we have disabled the registration process for the immediate future until we can find a solution.

However, we are still taking registrations via another route: anyone wishing to register for the noticeboards should send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. requesting registration. You will then be contacted asking for various details (proposed username, password etc) and on reply you will be admitted access to the Forum and the noticeboards.

Old usernames and passwords are unaffected and remain valid - log on in the usual way.

We can only apologise for this convoluted process and we hope that the problems we have been experiencing in attempting to prevent the spam can be resolved in the very near future so we can go back to the automated registration process. Thank you for your patience.

NMA Online Shop

We are proud to announce the opening of our brand new Download Shop which can be found within the main Online Shop HERE. You will find all the Attack Attack albums for download including the Red Sky Coven CDs, the single tracks from the BD3 EP and much more. There is also a free download section featuring ring-tones and special items unavailable anywhere else.

To begin with our featured album is a specially re-mastered and partly remixed version of Joolz's 1991 album "Weird Sister" - which featured musical performances from Justin Sullivan, Nelson and Ed Alleyne Johnson. This is not available anywhere else and is here at the special introductory price of £5.00.

Obviously this Download Shop is still in its embryonic stages and all feedback is welcome (write to us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Newsletter 09-11

There has been a newsletter sent out over the last couple of days which you should all now have received, if not you may have to change your spam settings on your computer to allow it through. If you have signed up for the newsletter (you can do so HERE) and have not received it then we would be interested to know as we would obviously like to make sure that the distribution is working properly. For those of you that have not received the mailout then you can see it HERE.

Sophie Lancaster Album & Never Again Anthology Book

Sophie Lancaster was tragically killed in August 2007 because she looked "different" and the Sophie Lancaster Foundation are working to bring about change, through workshops in schools and a campaign for an amendment to the UK Hate Crimes laws. A compilation album, "Hope", has been released on 22nd May 2010, co-inciding with World Goth Day, featuring tracks from New Model Army and Joolz to raise money for the charity Sophie Lancaster Foundation. All the artists featured have given their music for free, with some songs being written especially for the album.

“Hope” has been put together as a download only release with the sole intention of raising the maximum amount of money possible, with 100% of the price paid going directly to the charity.

"My name is Allyson Bird and in response to the terrible crime that happened to Sophie Lancaster and indeed to hate crimes and racism in general we have asked 23 writers of weird fiction to contribute to this anthology. All proceeds from this book will go to The Sophie Lancaster Foundation (agreed with Sylvia), Amnesty International and P.E.N. (International organisation to promote literature and human rights, encouraging translation and campaigning against political censorship)."

Never Again is an attempt to voice the collective revulsion of writers in the weird fiction genre against political attitudes that stifle compassion and deny our collective human inheritance. The imagination is crucial to an understanding both of human diversity and of common ground. Weird fiction is often stigmatised as a reactionary and ignorant genre - we know better. The anthology will be published by Gray Friar Press in September 2010, and edited by Allyson Bird and Joel Lane.

It will be a mixture of original stories and reprints from Ramsey Campbell, Lisa Tuttle and Joe R. Lansdale amongst others. Never Again is a non-profit initiative aimed at promoting awareness of these issues among readers and writers of weird fiction. The editors, authors/artist and publisher will receive no fees for this work. Any profits made from sales will be donated to anti-racist or human rights organizations, e.g. The Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

30th Anniversary Boxset

2/11/10. We are now taking advance orders on the special limited edition 30th Anniversary box-set. The price for this is £49.95 plus VAT from HERE Because of the weight of each box, we are unable to use the usual postage modules in our Shop outside the UK but have negotiated special prices with DHL.  Although there are still plenty left, we have sold more and faster than we expected - so order now to be 100% sure of getting one.

We expect to take delivery of the boxes within two weeks and start sending them out immediately. They will also be on sale at the Anniversary shows as soon as we have them, provided we still have copies..

The 10 inch square box will include:
Three DVD 9s with a total of nearly nine hours of footage. This will include concerts from The Marquee in London (1985) Dusseldorf Philipshalle (1990), Bizarre Festival (1996), and Koln Palladium (2006). It will also include all our promotional videos and a number of art videos, some of which have never been seen before. Finally it includes as much bootleg material as we have been able to squeeze on to the DVDs from all different eras of the band’s history.
A double CD Anthology with 30 tracks. Of course there is no agreement as to what ‘should’ be on this and we love the fact that each person reading this would pick an entirely different thirty songs. So instead we’ve asked band members past and present (and our closest associates) to choose and introduce their own personal favourites and, together, this has made an interesting collection that covers all the eras of the band’s history. There are no previously unreleased songs but there are a handful of new mixes, musical additions and new mastering.
An eighty page hardback book of photographs tracing our thirty years. Over 700 rare and never-seen-before photos from the bands personal archives, tickets, setlists, reviews, posters, interviews and more...
• Rare album pressings and memorabilia
• Handwritten lyrics
• Full discography with commentary
• Behind the scenes
• A tribute to absent friends
• 12 page question and answer session with past and present band members
• Exclusive live photos
• A complete list of gigs we have played
10” Art Prints of some of Joolz’s best work for the band. To introduce a small element of chaos, each box will include ten picked at random from a series of twenty-five.
An A3 New Model Army collage jigsaw puzzle (for you or your children).
A special 30th Anniversary car sticker Stencils so you can spray the New Model Army logo wherever you choose.
Please note that there will also be a miniature box-set version available in Shops and at online stores (such as Amazon) that contains just the CDs and DVDs – but, although they are already taking advance orders, these will not be dispatched before early November. Also the ‘Anthology’ double CD will be available separately in some Shops. However do not confuse these with this box-set which is a limited edition and only available directly from us at and at some of our Anniversary live shows through the Autumn.

30th Anniversary Shows

We have always been a band concerned with looking forwards rather than back. However, to mark the 30 years, this autumn we will indulge in a moment of nostalgia and pride in what we have created. Most weekends we'll be in a city for a two-night stand. The format of the shows will be very similar to what we did in 2000: two sets on each night - the first starting acoustically and building up over 45 minutes or so. Then a short 20 minute break before another full-on set of up to 100 minutes including encores. The following evening we will do the same but with 100% different material.

Our promise is to play at least 4 songs from each of the 13 studio albums (including the two B Sides/Lost Songs compilations). These will not be played in chronological order, or album-by-album, but a random choice. There are also some cities where we will be playing just a single night and on these shows the band will perform one double-set with a representation of all the albums. It's possible that we may also feature guest appearances from one or two friends and former members on some nights but nothing is fixed at this point. We hope also to include a display of at least a small part of the New Model Army 'One Tribe' Exhibition of original artwork and memorabilia - depending on the nature and geography of the venue and other ‘logistics'. We will make further announcements as the shows get nearer. Below is the FINAL list of shows.

Thank you very much to all those who attended Tommystock and made it such a memorable event.

Thank you also to those people who bought T-shirts and who helped out in a host of different ways. With all the bands and crew on the night giving their services for nothing, we're proud to announce that the Event raised £13,412 for Tommy's family.

We are sorry that we were unable to do a live webcast but Dean has been working hard editing camcorder footage together and we have placed some video clips from the show up for your delectation in the Tommystock section in the menu on your left. These are free to view and will remain up for the rest of the summer. However, we have created a charity account set up on Paypal, where anyone wishing to give donations can do so, with all donations going to Tommy Tee's Family.

It is hoped that some more videos will be posted here very shortly including clips from The Almighty, Rev Hammer and Notoriouz (featuring Tommy's son Thomas Walker) who have all kindly consented to allowing them to be hosted on this website.
