Newsletter #1 - October 2003

Justin Sullivan and Friends Project:

As promised, there is both a live DVD of the concert in Darmstadt and a live album on their way. Dean has been in Germany recently editing the Darmstadt footage while Justin and Michael spent much of the summer listening to and mixing the many hours of available material for a compilation album. The trio's shows at Ankara and Eskisehir in Turkey will take place on the 17th and 18th of October and, for the many Turkish fans who have been asking, we hope there will be a full NMA show in Istanbul next year.

North America:

We have been making every effort to make something happen here for the many people who have kept the faith in North America for so long. We are confident that the long awaited tour will take place in November but we have not been able to formally announce all the dates as we do not yet have either a complete itinerary nor work permits (though we are not anticipating any problems with these). For both budgetary and personal reasons, Michael will not be coming on this occasion so we expect that the concerts to be based around the blistering performance given by Justin and Dean in front of 50,000 people at this year's Rheinkultur Festival.

However we realise that many people need to know at least roughly where we will be going. Our approximate month-long itinerary begins in Washington DC. Then we will make our way up the East Coast, through Eastern Canada to Chicago, south to Texas, across to Los Angeles and finally north to Seattle. The itinerary as it stands is listed below. Confirmed shows in bold. The rest will be updated as we get them

Great Expectations - The Singles Collection

A few months ago, Superfecta Records who have licensed the band's Capitol Records catalogue approached us to let us know that they would be putting out a 'History' type compilation of NMA singles in North America and to invite our contribution. We are pleased to say that they have agreed to include the band's Sony and more recent singles, a couple of gems previously unavailable on CD (including Andy Wallace's 'Poison Street 12inch' mix) and some new original Joolz artwork. This album is released in America on Oct 9th. Stocks are on their way to The Shop for European collectors and a free download of one Wonderful Way To Go is available here.

We are also close to reaching a deal with a US distributor for the band's last four releases on their own Attack Attack label together with Justin's 'Navigating By The Stars' album that was recently #1 pick in the long-running Stateside Underground music magazine 'The Big Takeover.'

EMI:

Always trying to find ways of continuing to exploit their catalogue, EMI are discussing releasing a DVD of their promotional videos. As we have succeeded in doing with Superfecta, we are currently trying to persuade them to include more recent promos and other material including perhaps some or all of the 1996 Bizzarre Festival concert.

Red Sky Coven

Plans are afoot for a long awaited Red Sky Coven tour. We are looking at the end of January at the moment and will advise as soon as things become clear.

NMA

The December shows will be the band's first concerts this year. However work has already begun on a new album for release next year and we expect that some of the new material will be played at some of these shows. Meanwhile Nelson has continued to be involved in a whole host of musical projects in the Colchester area while Dave has been putting the finishing touches to the second 'Nozzle' CD.
There will be a lengthy tour in support of the new album next year
