NEW MODEL ARMY

"EIGHT"

Catalogue number ATK2304

(Zomba - 330. 2304.2. PC43)

RELEASED - JANUARY 31ST 2000 (February 8th in France)

The long discussed new studio album is now completed and released across Europe

EIGHT, is the band's eighth studio album and is the first to feature the solo production talents of Justin.  Having worked on previous albums with the likes of Glyn Johns (The Who, The Stones, Zeppelin) Tom Dowd (Aretha Franklyn, Rod Stewart) Nico Bolas (Neil Young) and Bob Clearmountain (just about every good sounding record you have heard !),  Justin has learnt how to release the soul of the song. The result is a collection that truly captures his self proclaimed re-birth as a songwriter.

Some of these songs will be familiar to some of you - "Snelsmore Wood"has been a live favourite for three years now, and "You Weren't There" has been achieving more success at alternative radio than we have seen for many a year, plus R&R, Stranger and Orange Tree Roads cropped up in  the set on the short run of shows we did in November.

The full track listing is as follows:

Flying Through The Smoke (Sullivan/Heaton)
You Weren't There (Sullivan)
Orange Tree Roads (Sullivan)
Someone Like Jesus (Sullivan)
Stranger (Sullivan)
R&R (Sullivan/Dean)
Snelsmore Wood (Sullivan)
Paekakariki Beach (Sullivan)
Leeds Road 3am (Sullivan/Dean)
Mixam (Sullivan/Dean)
Wipeout (Sullivan)

Correct lyrics and perhaps even some music will be posted in the period leading up to release. We have started with the lyrics to "You Weren't There", "Snelsmore Wood" and "Someone Like Jesus".

EIGHT was written and recorded in the space of six months between May and November last year. Using their own facilities in Bradford and a favourite location in North Yorkshire, they were able to work to their own schedule. This relatively short time (compared to previous releases) has given the whole album a freshness and excitement that, in the opinion of this writer, has not been seen since The Ghost Of Cain. It is a truly great collection. The album also features contributions from our old friend Mark Feltham on harmonica.

At present there are some areas where the album is unavailable. We currently have distribution and licencing arrangerments in the following countries (where any good record shop should have the album). UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland. We are finalising details for Poland and will update the lists as more people come to the party. If you live outside these regions you can order EIGHT form the online shop

The single You Weren't There has now been serviced to radio across Europe. Of course this does not mean they will play it but your local station should have a copy so get on the phone!

The artwork is another Joolz piece and is particularly striking. She has also re worked the logo which fits in very nicely with the style of the new artwork.

If you want advance tracks you should search out the following magazines who are carrying snips from the album on cover mounted CDs:
In Germany the Dec/Jan issue of TEXTUNDTON is carrying a snip of "Stranger" and the February issue of Visions will carry "You Weren't There". In France the new issue of Elegy will carry "Orange Tree Roads".

When the reviews of the new album start to appear we will post the interesting ones and hope that they share our opinions.
